  • DNB programme was started in Ophthalmology and Radiology.

  • Capacity of TMH was increased to 900 beds.

  • Critical Care Unit was inaugurated.

  • Internal Certification to TS I3004-2 was achieved.

  • Nuclear Medicine department and the new OPD complex were inaugurated. Hospital laundry, burns care centre and Uliyan dispensary were started.

  • A new building for canteen was constructed.

  • The 12-bedded Intensive Care Unit was inaugurated.

  • A two-storied Eye and ENT block was inaugurated.

1977

  • Tata Main Hospital Employees' Cooperative Society was started.

1974

  • Five-storied 256 bed Sir Jehangir Ghandy Memorial Hospital (JGMH) with 6 O.T.s was commissioned.

1968-74

  • Bed strength was raised to 600 and 2 more dispensaries were added.

1961

  • Inauguration of a full-fledged eye clinic at TMH.

1954

  • Rehabilitation centre started.

1950

  • Bed strength was raised to 415 and speciality clinics were started.

1947

  • TMH had 320 beds, 5 dispensaries, an X-ray department, an eye clinic, a physician, a surgeon, 49 general duty doctors, 295 paramedical & a few ministerial staff.

1939

  • The first School of Nursing was started.

1933

  • A nurses’ hostel was constructed.

1933

  • Five dispensaries were set up in the city.

1931

  • A number of wards, a Pathology laboratory and the Radiology department were constructed, bed strength was increased to 260, TMH was formally commissioned.

1928

  • An additional block built to include a special ward and two cabins.

1923

  • The front cabins were built.

1922

  • A 72- bedded general ward and OPD blocks were constructed.

1919

  • Additional space for the hospital was created and more staff recruited.

1916

  • The bed strength was raised to 16.

1910

  • A spacious brick hospital of 11 beds was built near the factory gate.

1908

  • The tent hospital was turned into an 80 Sq.ft. thatched hospital.

1907

  • TMH was set up near the Steel Works site.
