Consequent to the tragedy which occurred on 3rd of March 1989 on the Company Founder’s Day, when several of Tata Steel employees and their relatives suffered severe burns, a serious need was felt regarding the incorporation of a specialised burns care unit. Decision was taken to set up a dedicated burns centre within the premises of Tata Main Hospital with state of the art facilities to cater to the needs of the employees and their family members and community at large.
